After yesterday's debacle, I received an email back in regards to my complaint. This was a portion of it:
Dear Stephanie Thank you for your email. We are unable to make amendments to bookings at this address it will be necessary for you to call the Contact Centre and a travel advisor will be able to assist you. Your tickets may be upgraded to a higher fare for a fee only if there is availability.
Basically, I had to phone their call center to figure out a way to buy my way out of this stupid error. And I did. For an additional £163 - which is £100 for a change fee and £63 for the price of the difference of the full-fare ticket. Yes - that is correct. HAD THEY JUST TOLD ME ON THEIR STUPID TIER POINTS PAGE THAT I NEEDED THIS TICKET THEN I WOULD HAVE SAVED THE £100 THAT IT COST ME TO CHANGE IT. FUCK YOU VIRGIN ATLANTIC AIRWAYS. Yes, I will take my flight. But I will also make it my mission in life to tell everyone what a shitty company you are and how you mislead your customers. And this is all going into a formal complaint to Sir Richard Branson himself.
