This is just a post to let everyone out there know that Virgin Atlantic airways is about to lose a valuable and loyal customer. They have just ripped me off for £800 worth of flights and now refuse to extend my Silver flying club status because they tell me that I wasn't booked an a "qualified" flight.
The story in a nutshell...
I recently went to my account and booked a flight to Miami in March. When I was on the site - I noticed that my Silver club status was going to expire unless I flew before the end of this year. Therefore, in a panic, and following the rules of their site that told me 4 points would extend my status - I booked an emergency flight to the States.
Then I find out that my flight doesn't actually qualify because I took the fare that was offered to me when I did my search. Which means that I just wasted my time and my money to fly on this trip that was meant to extend my status - AND IT DOESN'T ACTUALLY QUALIFY. I am annoyed by this.
NOTHING on their page that explains tier points tells me this - not even a little link that says Terms and Conditions apply...
So - after being a "valued" customer who has over 60,000 miles with them - they totally screw me over and just put it down to "well, them are the rules type of an attitude".
My 60,000 Miles
You only need 4 points
See how easy it is! (no terms shown)
From Customer Service:
> Dear Stephanie, > > Thank you for your email. > > As a valued Flying Club member we would normally > welcome crediting your account with the miles from > your flights. However, as the ticket upon which you > will be travelling to Los Angeles is a discounted > fare it is not eligible to earn miles/tier points.I find this to be an absolute joke. I have always received my tier points. I have recommended this airline to countless numbers of people. I have paid for tons of Upper Class flights and Premium Economy and this is how I am treated? Wouldn't it be a lovely story if the kind folks at Virgin extended my status and I had something nice to write about for a change - instead of companies that don't give a toss about their customers? That is my challenge to you, Virgin Atlantic Airways... MAKE THINGS GOOD. Make the world not suck so badly. Make me believe that you actually want me as a customer and that all those thousands of dollars (which is up in the range of about $40,000 worth of flights) weren't wasted. I await a response...
